As a Staff Mechanical Engineer on Stryker’s Neurosurgical New Product Development team, you will play a key role in designing and developing innovative medical devices that enhance patient care globally. This position supports the Integrated Systems & Smart Accessories team within the Neurosurgical business unit, focusing on the development of Stryker’s next-generation Highspeed Drill Platform. You’ll be involved throughout the entire product development cycle—from concept through launch—collaborating with cross-functional R&D teams to deliver high-quality, impactful solutions using sound engineering practices.

You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office for this hybrid position. You will need to be onsite a minimum of three days a week, with flexibility to work from home on other days.
What you will doDesign, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision
Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutionsÌýÌý
Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performanceÌýÌý
Identify and resolve complex design issues using sound engineering judgmentÌý
Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessionsÌýÌý
Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practicesÌýÌý
Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History FilesÌýÌý
Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launchÌýÌý
Required QualificationsÌý
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field)ÌýÌý
Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experienceÌýÌý
Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assembliesÌý
Proficiency in engineering drawing creation and application of GD&TÌýÌý
Preferred QualificationsÌý
Experience with CAE tools and design for manufacturability (DFM) principlesÌýÌý
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processesÌýÌý
Ability to communicate technical plans to cross-functional teamsÌýÌý
Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environmentÌýÌý
