As a Staff Mechanical Engineer on Stryker鈥檚 Neurosurgical New Product Development team, you will play a key role in designing and developing innovative medical devices that enhance patient care globally. This position supports the Integrated Systems & Smart Accessories team within the Neurosurgical business unit, focusing on the development of Stryker鈥檚 next-generation Highspeed Drill Platform. You鈥檒l be involved throughout the entire product development cycle鈥攆rom concept through launch鈥攃ollaborating with cross-functional R&D teams to deliver high-quality, impactful solutions using sound engineering practices.

You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office for this hybrid position. You will need to be onsite a minimum of three days a week, with flexibility to work from home on other days.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision

  • Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions听听

  • Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance听听

  • Identify and resolve complex design issues using sound engineering judgment听

  • Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions听听

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices听听

  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files听听

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch听听

What You Will Need听

Required Qualifications听

  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field)听听

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience听听

  • Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies听

  • Proficiency in engineering drawing creation and application of GD&T听听

Preferred Qualifications听

  • Experience with CAE tools and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles听听

  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes听听

  • Ability to communicate technical plans to cross-functional teams听听

  • Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment听听
