    What is special about this role?
    We are seeking an innovative and experienced individual to join our team as the Senior Product Design Manager. This person will lead the product design team in creating compelling and user-centric designs that enhance user experience and drive business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product design, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for creating products that delight healthcare customers.

    As a Senior Product Design Manager, you will:
    • Lead and manage the product design team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management of designers.
    • Define and drive the product design strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, user needs, and industry best practices.
    • Serve as a player-coach, balancing management responsibilities with hands-on design work when needed, contributing directly to high-priority projects and demonstrating design excellence to the team.
    • Create frameworks and benchmarks that help standardize the design process from concept to execution, including ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing, to create intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces.
    • Champion user-centered design principles and help the team advocate for the needs and preferences of end-users throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Establish and maintain design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across products and platforms.
    • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to designers to ensure designs meet usability, accessibility, and brand standards.
    • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and tools in product design, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Work closely with product management, engineering, and other stakeholders to understand product requirements, user stories, and technical constraints.
    • Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to ensure product designs are aligned with brand identity and messaging.
    • Represent the design team in cross-functional meetings, presentations, and discussions to communicate design vision, rationale, and impact.

    About you:
    • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in product design, with a proven track record of leading design teams and delivering successful products.
    • Minimum of 2+ years of experience managing a product design team.
    • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design work, including web and mobile applications, responsive design, and interaction design.
    • Experience in designing for healthcare and tackling the unique challenges in the space.Ìý
    • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Framer, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar.
    • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability testing methodologies, and accessibility standards.
    • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Experience working in agile development environments and familiarity with agile methodologies.
    • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and a drive for results, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in design, with experience fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

    • Experience in leveraging AI technologies within the design process, particularly in healthcare tech applications, to enhance user experiences, streamline workflows, and drive innovation in product development.

    Expected Pay For This Role:

    There are 3 distinct parts to your Helix offer: 1) Base SalaryÌý 2) Annual Bonus 3) EquityÌý

    Expected Helix Base: $174,000 - $234,750

    Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 15% of your annual salary

    Equity: We offer generous equity. If you receive a Helix offer your recruiter will book dedicated time with you to educate you on our equity model.

    The salary range above is our reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role across US locations. Actual starting pay will be based on non-discriminatory job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.     What To Expect During Your Onboarding Week:
    We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.Ìý

    What To Expect During Your First 90 days:
    • First 30 days:Ìý you’ll spend time learning the Helix way, completing training and onboarding for your roles, and getting introduced to your team and relevant stakeholders. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of our customers, our products, the impact we make in the lives of our communities, and how to thrive at Helix through participation in Helix U.ÌýÌý

    • Day 30 - 60: you’ll spend time contributing to projects, deeply familiarizing yourself with team and company processes, and developing a deeper understanding of Helix’s products, services and capabilities.Ìý

    • Day 60 - 90: you’ll build your OKRs with your manager, start to take ownership of projects and initiatives on your team, and begin to demonstrate your impact on the Helix mission.Ìý
