Engineering Technician II assembles and builds prototype parts, components and fixtures from various materials for use in the development of mechanical, electrical, and acoustical products. Conducts tests and compiles engineering data to identify potential manufacturability problems.Ìý Assists with product maintenance activities, and uses corporate and engineering computer tools as required.

Responsibilities:- Builds prototype parts from various materials at varying levels of precision specific to the assignment for use in the development of mechanical, electrical, or acoustical prototypes
- Build, assemble, troubleshoot, and rework printed circuit boards
- LPKF Protomat series solder rework station a plus (or other equivalent PCB prototype machine) familiarity
- Expert soldering skills with both through hole and surface mount technologies
- CAD software experience ( Mentor Graphics a plus)
- PCB population/assembly experience
- Test and debug analog or digital circuitry at board level with assistance from engineering staff
- Familiarity with PCB material technology (a plus)
- Electrical test PCBs for 100% continuity
- Help teams or individuals to source electronic components either from internal inventories or external vendors or CEMs
- Organize, document, and communicate results of tests, experiments, etc
- Tests assembled prototypes under the direction of engineering personnel in order to provide test data
- Troubleshoots prototypes in order to identify malfunctions and assists in determining methods or actions to remedy problems
- Provides feedback on prototype manufacturability
- Provides process and manufacturing ideas regarding new products
- Provides input on debugging assembly and test fixtures
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support engineering and product development efforts
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hardware prototyping, working on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations. Associate’s degree in electronics or electronics technology (or equivalent, or higher)
- Has substantial understanding of the job, and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks
- Exposure to manufacturing processes is preferred
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of related experience building and troubleshooting electronics products with SMT components
- Must have the ability to work with electronic test equipment such as but not limited to signal generators, spectrum analyzers, audio analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, etc
- Must be able to work with solvents, solder paste, epoxies, and various chemicals
- Ability to fix/repair/maintain electrical equipment
- Experience working with bills of materials, assembly drawings/instructions, and wiring diagrams
- Knowledge of PCB construction and materials a plus
- Ability to work independently, receiving little instruction on daily work, but receiving general instructions on newly introduced assignments
- Experience working independently and within a group
- Good interpersonal skills

PAY TRANSPARENCY
Shure offers a competitive compensation structure that is reviewed annually to attract, hire, and retain the industry’s top talent. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The base salary range for this position is between $45,600 - $87,600. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for this opportunity. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
