Celebrating Global Asian and Pacific Islander Identities/events/summit/celebrating-the-asian-pacific-islander-community

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, hate crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in the US have risen dramatically, with similar worrying trends in Canada, the UK, and New Zealand. This has sparked a worldwide conversation about the long history of racism and discrimination directed at Asians, Pacific Islanders, and the Asian diaspora. Despite these experiences, this resilient community continues to thrive, and PowerToFly is honored to provide a platform to highlight the achievements and excellence of our Asian and Pacific Islander community members around the world.

Join us for a series of interactive talks and conversations as we share how to break what author and strategist Jane Hyun calls the "bamboo ceiling,"; discuss the detrimental model minority theory; learn lesser-known API history; discuss how the pandemic has affected opportunities in India and throughout the Asian continent; and explore ways to uplift and celebrate our Asian and Pacific Islander leaders in our workplaces and communities.

Amplifying Black Excellence/events/summit/amplifying-black-excellence

As we kick-off 2022 and look towards a brighter, post-pandemic future, many industries and communities are still recovering from the losses of the past two years. For example, did you know that COVID-related job losses pushed more Black women (9.5%) into unemployment than any other group? As we look at 2022 through a new lens, how can we be sure we are supporting our Black leaders and preventing this kind of loss from occurring again?

As we continue to learn from and be mobilized by the Black Lives Matter movement, it's clear we need to gather with leaders at the forefront of elevating Black leaders who can relay their accomplishments as well as the plans they have in-progress.

Join us as we celebrate the voices and achievements of Black leaders in business, and we share how we are holding each other, our work, and our organizations accountable to pledges for creating inclusive workplaces.

Speakers from our 2021 "Diversity Reboot: Elevating Black Women" summit included APCO Worldwide Senior Advisor, Equity and Justice, Charlene Wheeless; Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for Thumbtack Dionna Smith; Group Vice President of Environmental, Social & Governance at Indeed LaFawn Davis; CoFounder & CEO of Fundr Lauren Washington, Author & Founder of MoveTheCrowd Rha Goddess, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer of Randstad North America Audra Jenkins; The Jane Club's Chudney Ross and many more.
